On Saturday 14th October we were delighted to open our doors once more for another Second Saturday. This time led by local artist Graham Lowe where he exhibited a fantastic selection of recent portraits featured below in the shop and facilitated an exceptional portrait drawing masterclass where he even brought a model along! A local legend if you ask us - so no wonder his workshop was a sell out with the week since been totally portrait inspired - we've sold out of pencils and pads! A BIG thanks once again Graham from us all here at The Exchange.
Graham worked for many years as an illustrator in a small commercial art studio. There he created illustrations for books and other artwork for publication. After working for a number of years as an illustrator Graham then went on to study Fine Art. Over the last twenty years he has exhibited in galleries across the North of England. Graham’s drawings and paintings have been bought by public and private collectors in the UK, Australia and Japan. Through a passion to share his skills and inspire others to create, he has and continues to work with a range of community groups across Lancashire and spent many years as a tutor at White Cross Adult College, Lancaster.
This exhibition showcases a tiny glimpse of the breadth of Graham's creative practise. Take a look on his website for a wider selection, expect a wide range of painting media including soft pastel, mixed media, oils, acrylic, gouache and watercolour. He enjoys painting landscapes, still life and portraits as well as his favourite subject of all, birds.
All of the artwork in this exhibition is original and was created for Professor Joyce’s forthcoming book and will be going off to Vienna straight from the West End next!
