Providing work experience for the next generation of artists.
A few weeks back we had Georgia, a student from QES come and do work experience with us, on day one we were impressed at how Georgia got stuck in and didn't shy away from a challenge. No matter how tedious - like dismantling the smoke sensor to clean the optical sensor after a bit of messy DIY. After a lot of moving things and fixing things we thought it was only fair to let Georgia loose on something more creative. And we're really glad we did. Thanks for sharing a week with us - come back anytime.
We asked Georgia to write about her experience working with us and here's what she had to say:
"Hello, I'm Georgia from QES. My favourite part of the week has been getting involved in a riso print workshop. I have been surprised by the variety of people who come to Good Things Collective. I've learnt what it's like to be a part of something bigger than school and how to deal with bigger responsibility. Good Things Collective is welcoming, creative and inspiring. This week has made me realise there's more job options for creative people who don't want to go into a highly academic job.
The illustrations I designed are for the Good Things Cafe branding. I got inspiration online and then changed elements to make them my own.
Good Things is a really good place to be, whether that's to go to a workshop, get stuck into something creative or get to know new people"
One of the things we asked Georgia to do was help us come up with some designs for our upcoming cafe. These would be little illustrations that we can use for our cafe branding. We already have a small roster of little characters for this purpose which we showed to Georgia as inspiration.

We loved these character designs she did, especially this little guy running around holding a cup of coffee! We thought it would be a great addition to our roster of characters, so with Georgia's permission we had our in house designer re-work it to fit the current line up. Keep your eyes open for this little guy in our cafe when we open. Thank you so much Georgia for lending us your talent and for everything else you helped us out with last week!
